Weekend Wind-Down #56

SOCAL 4033
(on the way to the airport we saw a buncha people riding around town on their horses)

A week ago I was back home in RIVERSIDE, California, visiting my family. There were a few things I forgot about living in Riverside:

1. The air is brown. Visibly brown. Smog sucks.
2. The sun is relentless. There are no clouds. There is just a gray haze in the morning which gives way to a big blue sky by noon.
3. Cell phone towers are disguised as palm trees or water towers.
4. It's not uncommon to see a little old Mexican dude wearing a cowboy hat, pushing a cart through a suburban neighborhood at nine in the morning, selling ice creams, popsicles, and mexican candy.
5. Riverside is a horse town. It's not uncommon to see people ride their horses through a suburban neighborhood on their way to a supermarket or to a local fast food restaurant.
