Lately Rain

mushrooms-faces-3
We have had so much rain this summer! I am about to float away. But the rain brings our plants great joy, so it is okay. It also brings us mushrooms! Many mushrooms have been spotted in our yard. Some kinds I have never seen. If you look close, you can see they are all smiling back at you!

This one was so unusual - I touched it and it was so soft, like it was barely there. I have never seen any type of fungi like this ever.

Jumbles Wears a Hat

Jumbles with a hat on.
Thank you to the lovely Alessi for sending a box of great goodies to us! It included this hat that I let Jumbles wear! It also had some sugar mice that are too cute to eat, British candies, chocolates, and cute notebook! Thank you so much! We love the treats.

Snuggle Bunny Monday

Cutest picture in the WORLD!!!
Here is the funniest picture of all three of my pets together! I love this photo for so many reasons - look at Oreo and her pose! It makes me laugh so hard! Nilla is there and Jumbles is behind her, hanging out in his pan. They just all look so cute.

Our pets have been great, for the most part. Back in November our bunny, Jumbles, was diagnosed with a parasite. It is a terrible thing that rabbits can get this, but we caught it early and treated this. So we have been to the vet school so many times since November. I also hesitate to write about this, because the buns are doing really really good, but if you notice he is separated from Oreo in this photo. Poor Jum has been on and off medicine since November. In March he had a minor surgery, and his blood test levels were high for the parasite, so he has been on the treatment ever since. He will finally finish May 31! I am counting down the days!

Oreo was sick about two weeks ago, and now she is back to "herself." Rabbits are such different pets than a cat. So different - and we have learned lots since finding Oreo in 2009. I am happy to report she is doing great and is happy and healthy!

And for our cat Nilla, she is totally good and happy and healthy! Go Pets! this is where I sound like a crazy pet lady, but I love my pets so much. It is like Nacho Libre when he says "the children, they are my heart" about the orphans he cares for. I feel the same way - "the pets, they are my heart."

EYE-C: Tanglewood Farm, Pt.2

FARM 0384

More photos from TANGLEWOOD FARM! We liked the "Old West Boom Town/Ghost Town" theme they had going throughout the farm...

Sometimes, I like to ask Missy if she would still love me if I had GOAT EYES:

FARM 0408

We found a little baby BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP and of course, Missy and her mom could not help but pick up it up and hug the hoohah out of it...

Missy spotted another BABY LAMB and again could not contain her excitement. As she gently petted the sleepy lamb, it wagged it's little curly tail like a dog...

We learned the origin of the word JACKASS:

There was a BOBTAIL MANX wandering around the farm...unlike the baby lambs, it DID NOT like being held. As soon as Missy set it back down, it bolted and then jumped up through a HOLE IN A DOOR in order to escape. I was able to quickly capture the moment while the cat still had his butt hanging out of the hole...

A miniature horse and an even more miniature BABY MINIATURE HORSE:

FARM 0447

On our way out to see BUFFY, the MINIATURE BUFFALO, we stopped in at the TRADING POST to see what was in it. We were told by one of the farmhands that if we called out her name, she would come to the fence and let you pet her for a little bit. They were right! We called and she came to us. Even though she was "miniature", she was still quite large, which really made you think how big normal-sized buffalo were. Getting to pet Buffy was the perfect way to end a perfect day at Tanglewood Farm...

EYE-C: Tanglewood Farm, Pt.1

FARM 0259

Missy's parents came down for Easter weekend last month and we decided to take the EXPLORE YOUR ENVIRONMENT CLUB out to Canton, Georgia, to check out TANGLEWOOD FARM - the self-proclaimed "TOWN OF MINIATURE FARM ANIMALS". It's basically a large PETTING ZOO...with MINIATURE ANIMALS...A.K.A. "a dream come true" as far as Missy was concerned. Tanglewood was only an hour-and-a-half drive from Athens. The weather was as perfect as it could get, and we ended up having a wonderful time exploring...needless to say, we took A LOT of photos...so many that this post will have to be broken up into several parts...

FARM 0399

After purchasing tickets, we had to sign hold-harmless forms, releasing Tanglewood from any liability should any of our personal property get lost, stolen, damaged...or eaten. It also released Tanglewood from any liability should we get bitten, trampled, or killed by any of their miniature animals...Once we were signed in, we were free to roam from pen to pen to visit the lil' critters...

One of the highlights of the day were these LITTLE BABY LAMBS that Missy and her Mom got to pick up and cradle for a little while. Missy said that the lamb felt lighter than our cat, Nilla...
