Movin' On Up!

we-moved-moving-truck

It's the end of an era, folks! Starting today, September 8th, 2013, we will no longer be updating the RANCHO COCOA BLOG at this Blogger location. Instead, you will be able to find brand new posts (along with all our archived posts) over at our new location at RANCHOCOCOA.COM The talented NATASHA MURPHY of NICELY BUILT helped us re-mix and re-design the new Rancho Cocoa blog, and we couldn't be happier (Natasha also re-designed Missy's new website at MISSYKULIK.COM) We'll be slowly but surely deleting the archived content from this old Blogspot blog, and only post to our new RANCHOCOCOA.COM blog. We eagerly invite you to please connect with us and follow us there!

Lately Rain

mushrooms-faces-3
We have had so much rain this summer! I am about to float away. But the rain brings our plants great joy, so it is okay. It also brings us mushrooms! Many mushrooms have been spotted in our yard. Some kinds I have never seen. If you look close, you can see they are all smiling back at you!

This one was so unusual - I touched it and it was so soft, like it was barely there. I have never seen any type of fungi like this ever.

Making Kokedama

kokedama 0830
I went to Treehouse to make kokedama! most of my photos did not come out, so here are the best ones.

kokedama 0824
Kokedama moss balls are very easy to make. We used a mixture of red clay and potting soil, then we added the moss. We added a small succulent and last wrapped it in nylon string and added string to hang them up!

kokedama 0822
I got on a roll and made a bunch of mini kokedama.

kokedama 0839
Then I placed them in our kitchen!

kokedama 0853
I can't wait to make more kokedama!

Weekend Wind-Down #159

IRONING 0102

A little over a week ago, our friend Andrew came up from Gainesville, Florida, to perform at a experimental music fest here in Athens. He makes and performs POST-MASH-UP music under the name IRONING. Before heading back to Florida to play another show, Andrew stopped by RANCHO COCOA to meet the bunnies before we all headed off to brunch at The Grit. We couldn't get over Andrew's awesome CATS-ALL-OVER-AND-FOREVER FLEECE HOODIE...

After brunch, Missy and I headed out of town to Lexington on a whim...we heard that there was a cool NURSERY out that way and we decided to maybe try and find it. We stopped in Lexington's little downtown area and checked out their ANTIQUE MALL...

Ever since our beloved THYME AFTER THYME went out of business, we've been looking for a garden nursery that could match it's specialness, so we were excited when we finally came across GOODNESS GROWS...
