Operation Cutify - New Fridge

FRIDGE 6466

A little over two weeks ago, we noticed that our REFRIGERATOR was not quite working right...Missy pulled out a CHOCOLATE-COVERED ICE CREAM SANDWICH from the freezer, and when she bit into it, the ice cream center was all melted! The fridge was no longer keeping things frozen on the freezer side, and cold on the refrigerator side. We tried defrosting it, but it didn't really fix the problem. Instead of getting the fridge fixed and delaying the inevitable, we decided that it was time to buy a new one. The refrigerator came with the house when we bought it, so we weren't sure how old it was. Also, the old fridge was one of those SIDE-BY-SIDE models, with a really narrow freezer and refrigerator on each side - which I have always hated, because it was difficult to store WIDE FOOD ITEMS (large pizza boxes, platters, etc.), so I was more than happy to get rid of it. We headed over to the local HOME DEPOT and picked out our favorite...then all we had to do is wait a couple of weeks for the delivery (yes, a couple of weeks)...

...in the meantime, we cleaned all the POSTCARDS, MAGNETS, and miscellaneous JUNK off our limping fridge. We took a few photos of our MAGNET COLLECTION before storing them away...

After we cleaned off the fridge, it was a little disconcerting having a shiny white MONOLITH just sitting in our kitchen. I joked that it was "making the monkeys anxious", a reference to a particular scene in the movie "2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY"...

The day of the delivery, we cleaned out the fridge just minutes before the delivery men arrived, piling everything up on our dining room table and stuffing things into our portable cooler. After the delivery men hauled our old clunker out of the house, we quickly cleaned up all the dust and mess left behind before they brought in the new refrigerator...

Later that night, we went out and got a LARGE PIZZA from the pizza shop down the street from us, just so we could put it in our new fridge without having to rearrange everything and still have to put the box in at an angle. As I eased the box on to the more-than-wide-enough shelf, I could've sworn I heard "ALSO SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA" playing in the background...
