Saturday night Missy and I headed out to The Earl in East Atlanta to see WILD FLAG, the indie rock super group comprised of members of Helium, The Minders, and Sleater-Kinney. We're long-time fans of all the aforementioned bands, so we were especially excited to see this show. Also on the bill were the equally awesome YELLOW FEVER and SHANNON WRIGHT...
Yellow Fever were angular and arty, and the drummer was sporting a STILL FLYIN' t-shirt:
Shannon Wright was sludgy and grungy and she caused spontaneous involuntary head banging:
Wild Flag brought the ROCK...not Duane-whats-his-face, but the actual Spirit of Rock-N-Roll. They launched the Spirit of Rock into the audience and it crowd surfed all night. The band performed a tongue-in-cheek version of THE ROLLING STONE's "Beast of Burden" for their encore, and all was right with the world...
