Weekend Wind-Down #119

This weekend was pretty busy, as usual...Saturday night we went out to see GOLD-BEARS, THEO HILTON (from NANA GRIZOL), KARL BLAU, and MADELINE ADAMS. Needless to say, it was an AWESOME SHOW and if you weren't there, you missed out. GOLD-BEARS were at the start of their East Coast tour and they brought their own HOME MADE PHOTO BOOTH with them! People at their shows can have their photos taken, which will later be added to their website when they return home to Atlanta at the end of their tour. How cool and original is that?

Here they are in action, opening up a great night of music:





THEO, from local Athens band NANA GRIZOL, played a short and spirited set, joined on stage briefly by Wyatt (my bandmate from WEREWOLVES)



KARL BLAU was at the end of a long tour and we were lucky that Athens was his last stop before returning home to Anacortes, Washington. The last time I saw him play was at some weird house show in Los Angeles about 6 years ago, so it was a real treat to see him perform new material...I was especially excited because he was using the very guitar that his friend BRET LUNSFORD used to play in the legendary BEAT HAPPENING...









The night started with a bang and then closed with a bang...MADELINE and the WHITE FLAG BAND put an exclamation mark at the end of the show in the form of a raucous set which included the tiniest sneak peek of a new album which is coming out next month...

MISSY - My ears bothering me!
RAOUL - Trying to capture our reluctant rabbit, Oreo, after she escaped from the pen the other night.

FUNNIEST MOMENT OF THE PAST WEEK?
MISSY - Watching our bunnies go nuts!

MISSY - "JUMBLES!"
RAOUL - "Wait for it...POW!"

FAVORITE MEAL OF THE PAST WEEK?
MISSY - Homemade honey-glazed seitan and veggies over basmati rice.
RAOUL - Mmmmmmm...what she said!

PERSONAL RESOULTION FOR THIS WEEK?
MISSY - Take my iron pill everyday.
RAOUL - Work on budgeting my time better (I.E. spend less time on the internets)
