We built a new bed for our little BACKYARD GARDEN from a kit that we got from HOME DEPOT (it was on sale, so we couldn't resist). We added it to the two other little beds that Missy made - one from some discarded bricks we found around the Ranch, and another she built from an old IKEA shelf thing she didn't want any more. We already transplanted little baby plants to the smaller beds, but needed a third one for all the other little seedlings we have waiting on our screened patio...
We put down a layer of LEAF MOLD from our COMPOST HEAP and wet it down. The leaf mold will help the soil retain water better and help provide essential nutrients...all we have left to do is get some planting soil and put in all our other little plants...
In the meantime, we have a meandering patch of WILD STRAWBERRIES growing like crazy! Some critter has been snacking on the berries though...it's either one of the many SQUIRRELS (do they eat fruit?) or the lone LITTLE BROWN BUNNY that lives in our neighborhood...
