Half-Handed Lake

Hey!

So, last night we went to a really great show...it was LAKE (from Olympia, WA), HALF-HANDED CLOUD (from Berkeley, CA), and CASPER & THE COOKIES (Athens, GA) at the FLICKER THEATER AND BAR, here in lovely downtown Athens, Georgia...I've been asked before if maybe I could maybe shoot some video of the shows we go to, so I did...albeit, with my dinky digital camera. Fortunately, FLICKR recently started to let it's member be able to save and post videos...which is great because I use Flickr to organize my photos and it's terribly convenient to be able to upload photos and videos at the same time...unfortunately, Flickr limits videos to only a minute and a half long. Oh well...anyways, I shot some video and hopefully you'll get a sense of last night's performance. First band up was Lake...John Ringhofer (he with the darker hair and beard) from Half-Handed Cloud augmented Lake's line-up, and vice versa...so, it's kinda hard to tell the two bands apart sans audio and video...but basically, if Ashley is singing lead (like the video above), then it's LAKE that you're listening to...if John's singing lead, you're enjoying some Half-Handed Cloud songs...

One of the best highlights of the night (there were many) was when Jason from Casper & The Cookies joined them on stage to sing lead on their cover of BILLY JOEL's "Movin' Out"...I don't have to tell you that I love me some Billy Joel, and as soon as the opening chords and bass line sounded I let out a little "YEEEAH!"...

Afterwards, Half-Handed Cloud took the stage...and...well, the band was the same as before. Except they were performing John's songs...

The audience enjoyed the Half-Handed Cloud set so much that they demanded an encore...John obliged with a solo...which I photographed only (sorry!)...

I didn't get a chance to video Casper & The Cookies because I had to take Missy home and then I had to drive back to the club with some things that I wanted to give to John...Jason threatened to treat the audience to his rendition of "We Are The World" and I really wish he did, because it probably would have been hilarious...

Thanks for filming the show! This is awesome. We really enjoyed getting to play with Lake and John. And maybe next time we'll work up "We Are the World" after all... :)

It would be AWESOME if you guys did that song...think about it for Popfest...it could be like, the HHBTM all-stars doing "We Are The World" (and, if possible, everyone would have to dress up like the 80's popstar who's line they were singing)
