The best place to watch FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS is at the end of the dead end street that we live on. Everyone knows that you can go to nearby BISHOP PARK to watch Athens' biggest fireworks display. And most everyone knows that they fire off the fireworks from the back of the nearby YMCA. But not everyone knows that the back of the YMCA is also where the end of our street is...which is a scant two houses away from our house, RANCHO COCOA. So when the show starts with a BANG, all we have to do is mosey out into the street in front of our house for one of THE BEST VIEWS in town. The fireworks pretty much explode right over our neighborhood and the sound and brightness of the explosions coupled with the smell of smoke and embers make it feel like we're in the middle of a warzone. Our poor cat, NILLA absolutely hates it and she invariably spends the 4th of July huddled under the bed, stiff as a board. All the smoke from the spent fireworks drifts down into our neighborhood, enveloping our street in an other-wordly soft-focus glow...
MISSY and her mom, RITA, standing in the middle of street just outside our house, enjoying the show through the canopy of trees...
Missy's dad, JOHN, joined us in the street to enjoy the festivities...
