Weekend-Wind Down #32

CRYPTACIZE 0733

Yesterday after the CRAFTSTRAVAGANZAA, Missy and I got a warm bite to eat at The Grit, then went home to take a quick nap before heading back downtown to the 40 Watt, to see ANDY FROM DENVER, CRYPTACIZE, and DANIELSON perform...well, I was able to get up from my nap, reluctantly, but Missy was not. She was still very sick and exhausted from standing in the cold all day at the craft sale. The spirit was willing but the body said "no way, Jose!" So, I took off downtown solo, borrowing Missy's beetle, because we were too tired to unload all the craft stuff from Lord Focus (we STILL have not unloaded my car). I got to the club a little later than expected and totally missed Andy and Sarah's set...dang. Since when did shows start starting on-time in Athens? Anyways, I did make it in time to see CRYPTACIZE and I'm so glad I did. This performance was way more enjoyable than their previous performance at the 40 Watt (during Popfest) and I dare say that, for me, it was probably the most sublimely perfect performances I've seen all year. I took pictures and video, but really, it pales in comparison to actually being there...and invariably, it almost always does:

After Cryptacize played, DANIELSON took to the stage bedecked in matching uniforms, and entertained us with songs from their double-album retrospective, "Trying Hartz"...they were awesome as always:

Daniel told the story behind the band's collaboration with JOHN FLUEVOG SHOES, and the shoes that he had designed for their new uniforms:
