Last night, Missy and I headed out to the RAILROAD ARTS DISTRICT (RxRAD for short) to attend the MYSTERY TRIENNIAL at ATHICA, a fundraising event for the ATHENS INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART....it was a packed and frenzied house, with collectors snatching up works of art left and right. After about an hour I overheard one of the volunteers say that they had already raised over $2000 - most of it cash!

We were excited to finally see Missy's trio of PULL-STRING PUPPETS on display:

All the works were supposed to be submitted anonymously, but PYLON's Michael Lachowski decided to go in the opposite direction in a big way, to hilarious effect:

Gary showed up in a Missy Kulik limited edition GHOST TEE:

It got really warm inside the gallery, due to the sheer number of people at the event, so people started to congregate outside on the big concrete landing, where it was only a degree or two cooler. I thought ATHICA had hired a CARD SHARK to run a THREE CARD MONTE game in order to raise even more money, but it turned out to be a MAGICIAN who entertained the crowds with card tricks...

The nearby TRACE GALLERY piggy-backed on the Triennial's opening and had an open house of their own...we stopped in briefly before finally heading home for the night, feeling thoroughly inspired and tired...
